WEST ANATOLIA, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY

The pale tomato mihrab spotted with muted polychrome flowerheads beneath an abrashed leaf spotted arch with an oxidized brown cross-panel above, in an abrashed pale indigo spotted inner border, a tomato flowerhead-filled middle border and a maize-yellow spotted outer border and cream ribbon-twist guard stripes, rewoven partial ends and sides, oxidized browns, even wear overall, areas of repiling throughout
Approximately 6ft. x 3ft. 11in. (183cm. x 119cm.)

Warp: wool, Z2S, ivory, brown, one strand ivory and one strand dark brown or one strand ivory and one strand light brown, Z2S, at times slightly undulating, depressed
Weft: 3 shoots red wool Z1, first and third undulating, second somewhat more so
Pile: wool Z1-2, symmetrical inclining to the left, H2.7 x V2.7/cm.
Remarks: lazy lines
