WEST ANATOLIA, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY

The brick-red field with two indigo, green, brick-red, yellow and cream latched polygonal medallions enclosing starflower octagons flanked by indigo latched stepped spandrels and various polychrome geometric motifs, in a sunflower-yellow border of reciprocal geometric floral motifs, repiled areas throughout, minor losses to ends, repaired slits to ends
Approximately 6ft.6in. x 4ft.7in. (198cm. x 140cm.)

Warp: white wool, Z2S, not depressed, undulating
Weft: four to ten shoots, dark brown wool, Z1, a brownish-black stripe, undulating
Pile: wool, Z2S, symmetrical inclined to the left and right, and not inclined, H1.9 x V2.9 cm.
Remarks: sometimes displaced knotting
