Triumph's marketing coup of 1938 was the Turner inspired 498cc vertical speed twin with an overhead valve engine, a design that was to influence sports machines, perhaps more than any other model, before or afterwards. The bike was an immediate success with the new engine fitting easily into the existing Tiger 90 frame and the same gearbox, hubs and front forks could be used. The retail price was £75, just £5 more expensive than the Tiger 90.

This 1940 machine has apparently spent many years of its life in France, although is sold without any particular history; it is in original condition with tank-top instrument panel still in situ. It will have been ridden to the London saleroom from France, testimony to its current mechanical abilities.

To be sold Without Reserve.
