1980 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE III
Registration No. FYP 818V
Chassis No. AM33049A000190
Engine No. AM1072349
Silver with light tan upholstery.
Engine: eight cylinder V8, 4,930cc; Gearbox: three speed automatic; Brakes: four wheel disc; Suspension: independent coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers all round. Left hand drive.
The Quattroporte III was presented at the 1976 Turin Motor Show, although actually launched in 1979. The prototype was the work of Giugiaro and was quite understated yet typically Italian. This was Maserati's flagship car and, as a result, was built to high standards of refinement and comfort. Power was from the V8 4.9 litre engine and either a five speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission was available. Top speed was 220kph and the level of the interior comfort was equally impressive. Sumptuous leather upholstery with electric front seats and air conditioning were standard on the Quattroporte and they were the favoured transport of senior Italian executives.
This 1980 model is a left hand drive, 4.9 litre version with automatic transmission. The silver-painted bodywork is in good condition and the car has been well kept in its present ownership. The indicated mileage has just moved past the 90,000 kilometer figure and the car has its original tool roll and handbook. The interior is trimmed in tan leather with dark brown carpets and has standard air conditioning and electric front seats. Correct-style Campagnolo wheels are fitted, as is a tinted front windscreen and front headlamp washers. In their day these luxurious sports saloons had few rivals in Italy and they were produced in very limited numbers. Accordingly they are rarely available and, in fact, not often seen outside their home country.
