In 1956 a six cylinder engined Healey was available that superceded the four with the car growing slightly in wheelbase and overall length. This was called the 100/6 BN4 and twelve months later became the BN6 when it was fitted with a new type of six-port cylinder head. The 100/6 model was highly successful on the road and, when in a tuned state, extremely competitive in the international rally world. Some 10,300 examples were built between August 1956 and late 1957. The increased interior room appealed particularly to the North American buyers whilst the improved hood and side screens were well received by all. The cars were readily identifiable by a new front grille and swage line along the sides.

This example was originally a left hand drive production-built car which was purchased by the private vendor over six years ago and subsequently completely restored. As such, the car was comprehensively stripped down and all the original panelwork was properly cleaned and prepared prior to repainting. The car was originally Florentine blue with cream side panels but was repainted in Primrose, an original Healey colour. The wings were refitted properly and were left without any wing mirrors or other adornments. Many new parts were used during the subsequent restoration process and the list of work attended to is testimony to the standard of the rebuild. New engine and gearbox mountings were fitted and the radiator was rebuilt and pressure tested. The engine displays 50psi oil pressure and overdrive is fitted to the gearbox. The suspension had new kingpins and bushes fitted whilst the steering has a reconditioned column and idler box. A new stainless exhaust system and heat shield were fitted.

A new wiring loom was put in and new headlights fitted. The car also has a new windscreen.

The interior has been completely retrimmed with black leather to the front seats and new carpeting throughout, including new boot lining. The hood and sidescreens are in excellent order and the Healey has rare Austin Healey rubber overmats in the front footwells. A new dashboard and dash top were installed at the same time. New bumpers and over-riders were fitted and the car sits on new wire wheels with almost new tyres and tubes. Many hundreds of the smaller parts were also renewed and for the majority of the work there are receipts and bills; some $1,000 worth of bills are also available from the previous Texan owner of the car.

The Healey is sold with a British Motor Industries Heritage Trust certificate and also a full year's MoT; at the time of writing it was being registered and the V5 document will follow. The attention to detail during the restoration has been of the highest order; the car has been sensibly dry-stored since the rebuild and has hardly been driven at all due to other projects taking precedence; a fine example of these popular British sportscars.
