A North Italian walnut, bone, copper and pewter inlaid bedroom suite
Late 19th Century
Comprising two double beds, a wardrobe, a cabinet and a pair of bedside cabinets

The beds: each with a rectangular head board, inset with a rectangular panel depicting Aurora, the Dawn Goddess, in her triumphal Chariot (after Guido Reni) of a horsedrawn chariot and attendants, the footboard flanked by caryatids between an arched panel, the other with a rectangular panel
The wardrobe: of breakfront outline, with a pair of central cupboard doors, opening to reveal an interior of pigeon holes and drawers, above five drawers, flanked to each side by a mirrored cupboard door
The cabinet: also with a pair of small doors opening to reveal a fitted interior of pigeon holes and small drawers, above five drawers
The bedside cabinets: each of breakfront outline, with a drawer above a cupboard door
The first bed: 69in. (175cm.) wide; 70½in. (179cm.) high; 92½in. (235cm.) long
The second bed: 68½in. (174cm.) wide; 57½in. (146cm.) high; 86in. (218.5cm.) long
The wardrobe: 96in. (244cm.) wide; 89in. (226cm.) high; 26¾in. (68cm.) deep
The cabinet: 47in. (119.5cm.) wide; 85½in. (217cm.) high; 29in. (74cm.) deep
The bedside cabinets: 20¼in. (51.5cm.) wide; 33in. (83.5cm.) high; 16¼in. (41cm.) deep

A similar bedroom suite, attributed to Angelo Lanata and Sons of Lavagna, was sold in these rooms, 28 October 1993, lots 224-232. Another was sold at Sotheby's London, 21 May 1993, lots 51-58.
