With a brèche d'alep breakfront marble top, above three frieze drawers, the cupboard door below inset with a marquetry panel of a vase, flowers and a basket, flanked by trellis foliate panels, the inswept sides also with trellis foliate panels, on scrolled foliate sabots

Lot Essay

Designed in the Louis XVI manner associated with the court ébéiste Jean-Henri Riesener (maître 1768), its pastoral trophy vignette, within trellis panels, derives from a commode supplied for Versailles in 1775 and now in the Musée de Condé, Chantilly.
