AN ENGLISH DELFT BLUE AND WHITE PUZZLE-JUG
Circa 1760, probably Liverpool
Of conventional form, the globular body painted with birds perched on rockwork beside flowering plants flanking the hollow loop handle with dash and scroll ornament, the front with the usual four-line rhyme, the cylindrical neck pierced with flowerhead medallions formed of hearts and ovals beneath a hollow rim with three cylindrical spouts and painted with fronds (spouts chipped, slight chips to footrim and minute glaze flaking to rim)
