Each painted with five rows of specimen colours, named in black script below and inscribed in the lower right-hand corner LECHERTIER BARBE, & CO./60 REGENT ST./LONDON W (one with small rim chip to back) , mounted in later stained black wood frames

Lot Essay

Lechertier Barbe & Co., the well-known suppliers of artist's materials, were founded in 1820. Their premises in Regent Street were closed in 1898 and they re-opened in Jermyn Street in 1899; these latter premises were sold in 1972
