THREE BOW HANDLES
Circa 1755, the fork-handle circa 1750

A knife-handle of pistol form moulded with trailing branches and scrolls (cracked near ferrule, glaze rubbed), 3 3/4in. (9.5cm.) long; another of pistol form painted in a famille rose palette with the 'Quail' pattern, plated ferrule (repaired round bolster and with extended crack), 4 1/4in. (11cm.) long; and a blue and white fork-handle of curved octagonal section, painted in a bright palette with panels of diaper ornament reserved with oval medallions of stylised scrolls and foliage, with three-tined fork, 3 3/4in. (9.5cm.) long (3)

The first and the blue and white example apparently unrecorded; the latter gave a positive phosphate reaction when tested, although there are marked similarities with a waster of a teapot spout found on the Vauxhall site
