Of Louis XVI style, the channelled frame with oval padded back and bowed seat covered in close-nailed floral tapestry, the back and seat-rail with foliate beaded bands, on stop-fluted turned tapering legs, with metal label stamped KRIEGER PARIS

Lot Essay

This canapé was probably manufactured by Antoine Krieger, who opened his workshop with his brother Nicolas in 1826 in Paris and left it to his successors in 1856. The firm continued under various names in the second half of the 19th Century, employing the name Krieger until 1880
