THE COLLECTION OF THE DUQUES DE CADAVAL (Lots 111-197) Writing these words brings back wonderful memories of my dear friends, the Duke and Duchess de Cadaval. For years I have enjoyed their warm hospitality and kindness during my frequent visits to their beautifully decorated homes. I particularly admired their exquisite taste and ability to collect and combine an ecclectic range of furniture and works of art. Régence and Louis XVI furniture harmonised wonderfully with outstanding Chinese and bamboo furniture. A number of objects have been with the Dukes de Cadaval for generations, like those from the de Gramont line of the family, whilst others have been more recently acquired by them. The dispersal of this collection will certainly provide collectors with unique opportunities. HUBERT DE GIVENCHY FURNITURE, OBJECTS AND ORIENTAL WORKS OF ART
