Fidelys Schey, maître in 1777
This commode represents Schey's later work towards the end of the reign of Louis XVI. His oeuvre was prolific, despite the relative shortness of his career (d. 1788) and he delivered several games tables to the Château de Fontainebleau in 1786, as well as a Table à écrire which was sold by Lord Elphinstone in these Rooms, 9 June 1994, lot 55.
