TWO CHINESE SCARLET AND GOLD LACQUER FOLDING CHAIRS
Possibly 17th Century
Each with U-shaped everted toprail, one with Greek-key trellis pierced and panelled splat and with an inscription denoting a temple provenance to the reverse, the other with foliate scroll decoration, the pierced panelled splat centred by a foliate roundel and chequer-pattern to the reverse, above leather seats and X-frames with folding foot rest, both mounted with engraved metal plaques, the first with floral engraved cartouche-mounts to the toprail, one chair with torn leather, the other with later leather, losses to mounts and to decoration on both chairs (2)
