CIRCA 1650-60, ENGLISH OR DUTCH

With slender tapering blade of stiff diamond section with narrow fuller on each face at the forte stamped 'Sebastian/Hernandez', iron hilt with two assymetrical side-rings each chiselled with a central flower calyx and filled with a plate chiselled with a double loop motif framing panels pierced with circular holes, short horizontally recurved quillons with button terminals, and chiselled ovidal pommel, encrusted throughout with lines of silver dots and rosettes, and with wire-bound wooden grip (worn overall)
