AN ITALIAN CLOSE-HELMET ALTERED FOR THE PISAN GIOCO DEL PONTE

LATE 16TH CENTURY WITH LATER ADDITIONS

Of blackened iron (patched on both sides), comprising one-piece skull and high roped comb, the latter engraved on each side with a trophy of arms, towards the rear a large shaped riveted patch carrying a small plume-holder, bevor with large patch riveted over the point of the chin and with two pivot hook-catches securing the barred visor pivoted at the same points as the bevor, and single gorget-plate at front and rear, stamped at the back of the neck 'GP' (for Galleria Prima), and with the inventory number '811 P' painted inside
