With browned damascus barrels signed on the rib, signed case-hardened locks decorated with scrolling foliage on a hatched ground and stamped 'ERP' on the inner side, snap-action stamped 'S. Mathews Patent 121' operated by a blued pivoting lever fitted to the top-strap, figured walnut stock, chequered grip and hinged chequered fore-end, engraved iron mounts, gold escutcheon, and some original finish: in lined and fitted oak case covered with black canvas, with cleaning rod and Bartram cartridge extractor, Birmingham proof marks
