The barrels (probably shortened) retaining some browned finish and inlaid in silver with scrollwork and full signature, and with long engraved tang extending almost to the pommel, the engraved locks each with blued external mainspring and pierced hammer chiselled in the form of a seated lion, figured half-stock with fluted butt, lightly engraved iron mounts, and later horn-tipped ramrod

Lot Essay

Sold with a manuscript note dated 1935, stating that the pistol was owned and carried by the Alcalde (magistrate) of the little Spanish Pyreneean town of Venasque, whose grandson gave it to the signatory of the note
