With sighted barrel with a moulding at the breech and brass fore-sight, grooved tang, rounded lock stamped with a mark inside the steel-spring, moulded full stock (butt chipped), brass mounts including flush-fitting scroll side-plate, and spurred pommel (lanyard loop missing), and later brass-tipped ramrod (iron parts pitted)

This is the Saxon cavalry pistol introduced in 1763 and in service until circa 1780, produced in pairs with right- and left-hand locks
