A 50-BORE CENTRAL ITALIAN FLINTLOCK PISTOL, PROBABLY MADE FOR A BOY

CIRCA 1750

With two-stage barrel inlaid with a silver band around the muzzle, the fluted octagonal breech inlaid with engraved sprigs of foliage in silver and gold and stamped on top with three gold-lined star-shaped marks, each within a diamond, and engraved with the inscription 'Non Occides', silver-inlaid tang, shaped flat bevelled lock, the cock and steel-screw each retained by a nut on the inner side, lightly carved highly figured rootwood full stock (cracked), full brass mounts with cast and chased borders, and original brass-capped ramrod
