TWO INDIAN JADE-HILTED DAGGERS
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The first with curved watered double-edged blade with medial ridge on both sides, and decorated on one side with gold-damscened Turkish verses in Arabic script, both sides of the forte chiselled and gold-damascened with a tiger attacking an antelope, and green jade hilt of scrolled form carved with a horse's mane and originally with a horse-head pommel, and with foliage at the base, the pommel inset on each side with a gilt flowerhead set with a diamond and rubies; the second with broad fullered blade double-edged towards the point and decorated at the forte with gold-damascened foliage, langets (one pitted) and quillons en suite, and celadon jade hilt of scrolled form with gold-set red gem-stone on each side of the pommel
