The blade double-edged at the point and with a central fuller along the back on each face, the iron hilt with guard of narrow bars framing S's (perhaps for Stirling) and rectangular panels with heart-shaped and circular piercings, pommel of flattened conical shape, and wire-bound shagreen-covered wooden grip, with later leather lining faced with red cloth, and silk pommel fringe, in iron-mounted black leather scabbard
