AN ITALIAN TASSET PLATE, AND AN UPPER-CANNON FROM A VAMBRACE
THE SECOND PROBABLY GERMAN, BOTH LATE 16TH CENTURY
The first curved with rounded lower corners, the edges turned and file roped, etched and gilt with panels containing trophies, strapwork and the head of a crowned double-headed eagle under an arch, all against a granular ground; the second with turned and roped main edge, and etched and gilt with sprigged bands containing strapwork and a cherub's head against a granular ground (2)
