THE FIRST, NO. 207, CIRCA 185O, THE SECOND EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The first with browned twist sighted barrels (minor pitting) each with gold line at the muzzle and two gold lines at each breech enclosing a band of gold foliage, case-hardened breeches engraved with foliage at the centre, engraved case-hardened tang, sparsley engraved case-hardened back-action locks, hammers chiselled as sea-monsters, figured walnut full stock, chequered butt with oval pommel carved with a band of ornament, case-hardened mounts including trigger-guard engraved with foliage, and butt-trap with hinged scalloped cover, silver escutcheon numbered '2', original brass-tipped ramrod with iron worm, and some original finish, Liège proof mark; the second with brass full stock of 'rat-tailed' forn engraved with panels of scrollwork, the butt enriched with small groups of pewter pellets, and original iron ramrod with turned and octagonal tip
