拍品專文

The lithograph, identical to this watercolour in composition, is dated '1838', presumably the date of Roberts' original on-the-spot drawing, perhaps the variant also included in this sale (lot 94) which is taken from a viewpoint slightly further away from the Temple. This watercolour was one of the series executed after the originals specifically for Louis Haghe's lithographs. It shows the temple dedicated to Amon, his wife Mut and his son Khons, mainly built under Amenophis III of the 18th Dynasty.
