ROME, Church of. Cathecuminum secundum ordinem Romane Ecclesie: necnon morem Ecclesie Fauentine. Faenza: Giovanni Maria Simonetta, 25 May 1524.

Small 4° (181 x 139mm). Printed in red and black in large gothic type, title with small woodcut of God the Father enthroned and surrounded by a throng of angels within a woodcut border made up of eight blocks. Green morocco by Lortic, spine gilt in compartments, gilt turn-ins, g.e. Provenance: Victor Masséna, Prince d'Essling (1836-1910; supralibros and cypher on spine).

A FINE COPY of only the second book printed in Faenza by the nomadic printer and bookseller, Simonetta. Originally from Cremona, he printed for six years in Faenza before removing to Bologna (1530), Pavia (1539-1542), Piacenza (1543-1545) and Naples (1556). After his departure there was no further printing in Faenza in the sixteenth century. Sander 1835; Fumagalli p.116.
