On Monday evening, 21 February 1639, Filippo Guastavillani, by all accounts one of the most charming and generous Bolognese gentlemen of his time, invited a large number of the local gentry to a sumptuous dinner accompanied by musical and balletic entertainments on mythological and allegorical themes. Two of the folding plates portray the settings of these entertainments. Vinciana 242 (lacking the plates); Lozzi 551.
