A KURA AND ABUMI (SADDLE AND STIRRUPS)
WITH INSCRIPTION KANBUN SAN'NEN SHIGATSU JUGONICHI (1664, 15 APRIL), MASANAO AND KAO, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
Wooden saddle, heavily lacquered with a design of dragons contesting the jewel, glazed eyes, the interior of the saddle lacquered in gold nashiji; the stirrups similarly decorated; together with leather harness (kurashiki, chikara-gawa, shitagura, aori and a pair of leather straps) (4)
