AN IRON RED LACQUERED TOSEI GUSOKU
18TH CENTURY
The eight-plate iron helmet red lacquered and with five-stage copper gilt tehen kanamono, five-stage shikoro detached, mabizashi with embossed eyebrows and small fukigaeshi; an iron red lacquered hambo; a two-piece iron okegawa-do yellow laced sugake odoshi with gold lacquered kusazuri (detached); ko-sode gold lacquered; hyotan-gote decorated with pierced mon of omodaka, cherry blossoms, kikyo and a mitsuhiki-ryo-mon to hyotan all gold lacquer; haidate with similar mon decoration, (the whole armour in need of restoration)
