Descriptif du lot

In his article 'Jan Wyck and John Wootton at Antony', Sir Oliver Millar compares this picture to Wyck's Gilbert, 4th Earl of Coventry with Horses and Hounds in a Landscape, at Antony, Cornwall (O. Millar, op.cit., p. 38, fig. 1): 'The composition [of the Coventry Picture] is full of interesting narrative detail, comparable, perhaps, in a more peaceful field, to Wyck's masterpiece: a picture (at Pitchford Hall) of a military encampment'.
