Lot Essay

The naturalistic legs of this table are more highly detailed than on many other tables of this type and they relate most closely to the legs on one of the most exotic, the brass-inlaid tripod supper table with lobed top that is associated with John Channon and Frederick Hintz. The latter table has brass shoe-buckles and is illustrated in C. Gilbert, John Channon and brass-inlaid furniture 1730-1760, London, 1993, col. pl. XXVII
