The scrolled panelled ends carved with stiff-leaves and covered in yellow silk, above a channelled front-rail and on domed rosette-headed gadrooned turned tapering legs with brass caps and castors, restorations, mattress supports replaced

Lot Essay

This bed is very similar to one in the collection of the Earl of Harewood, illustrated in P. Macquoid, The Age of Satinwood, London, 1908, fig. 227. The Grecian reed-enriched feet correspond to furniture manufactured by Gillows at this period.
