Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the maharaja stands in profile, wearing a red embroidered turban and a white coat with a red and gold pattern, tied with a gold embroidered sash over pink patterned trousers with red slippers, green ground with identification inscription on bottom left-hand corner (light spotting), mounted on card, 6½ x 2½in. (16 x 6.5cm.); and a Mughal portrait of Nadir Shah Afshar, the bearded monarch with gold nimbus, standing on a white terrace and wearing a gold turban, an orange waiscoat over a green coat, both with gold embroidery and yellow boots, with bow and arrow, quiver, dagger and sword, mounted, framed and glazed, 9 x 5¼in. (23 x 13cm.)
