Ink and watercolour on paper, 15ll. of black nasta'liq within gold clouds, occasional words and sentences in purple, the heading with a calligraphic dove composed of the bismillah on a polychrome ground surrounded by cartouches, with two outer margins on the right, one floral, the other with arabesques and seal impressions (creased, slight staining and damages), mounted, framed and glazed

Lot Essay

This deed concerns the marriage of one Ahmad, son of the late Aqa Muhammad 'Ali and Fatima al-Nisa Khanum, daughter of the late Ustad Abu Hasan. Details of the dowry, to be paid in the form of cash and land from the royal treasury of Nasir al-Din Shah are contained in the margins.
