Lot Essay

Muhammad Ghaffari Kamal al-Mulk was born in Kashan of a family of painters, and attracted the attention of Nasir al-Din Shah, from whom he received the title Kamal al-Mulk. He studied in Europe for several years, later establishing the Tehran School of Fine Arts in 1911.
