A VENETO-SARACENIC SILVER INLAID BRASS BOWL AND ASSOCIATED COVER
PROBABLY SYRIA, EARLY 16TH CENTURY
Of hemispherical form with pronounced rim, the exterior overlaid in silver with arabesques forming a variety of panels very finely engraved with dense scrolling arabesques, the rim with a similar meandering band, the associated cover originally from another similar bowl decorated in a similar manner with silver boundaries forming rectangular and cusped medallion panels containing tightly scrolling arabesques, bowl with occasional losses to silver, cover severely rubbed in centre, otherwise in similar condition
