Lot Essay

Both the colour of the blue in the central inscription roundel and that of the narrow red outlines around the inscriptions is different from the same tones in the rest of the interior. This raises the possibility that the bowl was shipped from China to Persia with a blank central roundel (and possibly with the specifics of the colours used). Certainly the extent of the inscription and the fact it is signed by the calligrapher would all point to a Persian atelier.
