This building, known as the Zeughaus, was designed by the architect Johann Arnold Nering and built between 1695 and 1706, based on plans dating from 1688 by the French architect, François Blondel. It was completed after Nering's death by Grünberg and Schlüter and work on the interior continued until 1730. It is generally considered to be Berlin's finest example of Baroque architecture. It was converted into the Arms Museum between 1877 and 1880.
