The film, 'The Misfits' (1960) was directed by John Huston and written by Arthur Miller and starred Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift and Eli Wallach. Through the photo-editor Lee Jones at Magnum and his connections with Frank Taylor, the film's producer, Arthur Miller and John Huston, Magnum acquired the exclusive photographic rights to the film, the first time an independent agency had done so. Photographers were sent two at a time over the period of filming to record the sometimes traumatic shoot. This film was to be the last that Marilyn Monroe was to star in before her untimely death and Clark Gable was to die of a fatal heart attack soon after.
