Lot Essay

According to the present owner, a descendant of Berta Zuckerkandl, this light fitting was included in the interior of Berta Zuckerkandl's apartment at Oppolzergasse 6, Vienna, commissioned from Hoffmann in 1916. The design of the fitment indicates a date earlier than this commission and it is likely that Berta acquired the lamp some time before.
