Lot Essay

A very similar figure but wearing knee breeches and differently enamelled robes is in the Hodroff Collection, illustrated by D. S. Howard, op.cit., p.260, no.310, where the author says that "the last quarter of the 19th Century saw a short period of high quality famille verte enamelling", to which group this figure must surely belong.
