The first decorated en grisaille and gilt with a central coat-of-arms, coronet within leafy mantling and radiating military banners, below a spear-head band at the well and four shaped cartouches at the border, section of rim restored, small rim-chip; the second, a famille rose hot-water plate, enamelled with a central coat-of-arms, crest and the motto Beata Petamus Arva, below underglaze-blue bands at the border

Lot Essay

The arms on the first dish are those of Reillo of Castille. Cf. J. B. Rietstap, op.cit., vol.II, p.544. A plate with these arms was sold in these Rooms, 1 March 1976, lot 94; another, from the Pergola Collection, was sold in Monaco, 23 June 1986, lot 1196; and another, from the Hervouët Collection, was sold in London 3 November 1987, lot 897.
