Harrison travelled throughout England and in 1938 went to Iceland to study the birdlife and landscape. He wrote and illustrated Bird Portraits and also provided the illustrations for Jean Delacour's Pheasants of the World. Later he also travelled round Africa in order to observe the birds, animals and landscape. Harrison lived for many years in Norfolk where he painted the birds of the Broads and the game birds in their natural surroundings. He also visited Scotland to paint game birds and in connection with his illustrations for Seton Gordon's, Days with the Golden Eagle, 1927.
