A SPANISH GILTMETAL-MOUNTED WALNUT, EBONY AND TORTOISESHELL CABINET
Late 17th Century
Inlaid overall with brass circles, the breakfront top above a door with an arcaded panel supported by two columns and a balustraded pediment with mounts of flying putti and flowering vases, enclosing an interior with four drawers, simulated as eight and veneered with amarath and banded with boxwood and ebony lines, flanked by three conforming drawers to each side with central tortoiseshell panels, the sides with brass handles, on later turned bun feet, the later English stand with ebonised frieze, ring-turned legs and X-shaped stretcher, minor losses to veneer and tortoiseshell
