Lot Essay

A set of four carved panels with closely related beribboned and laurel-swagged frame and attributed to Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo (d. 1820), designer and carver to the Piedmontese court, are at the Stupinigi palace near Turin (V. Viale, Mostra del Barocco Piemontese, Exhibition Catalogue, Turin, 1963, plate 342).
