Lot Essay

This pair of chenets is closely related to a pair supplied by Ravrio circa 1805 for the Salon du Prince Borghese at the Petit Trianon and now at Fontainebleau (Catalogue des Collections de Mobilier, vol. I, no. 250). The mounts on the base are identical to those on the base of a chenet supplied by Ravrio to Fontainebleau in 1809 (illustrated, op. cit., no. 255).
