An ormolu and painted bronze chinoiserie garniture de cheminee
Of Louis XV style, Late 19th Century
Comprising a mantel clock, a pair of three-light candelabra and a pair of chenets; the clock with circular glazed Roman and Arabic-chaptered dial inscribed Gille L'Ainé A PARIS, in a drum-shaped case surmounted by a Chinoiserie figure with a parasol, supported on a scrolling fruiting branch with a seated bird and on scroll base with two seated figures on tasseled cushions; the candelabra with scolling foliate branches and drip-pans and seated figures on a rockwork base and scrolled feet; the chenets each with a seated Chinoiserie figure in tasseled robes on pierced rockwork and acanthus scrolls

A similar garniture, the clock dial signed Julien le Roy, without the chenets, was sold from the collection of Countess Mona Bismarck, at Sotheby's Monaco, 1st Decemeber, 1986, lot 766.
