2° (510 x 310mm). Engraved throughout, hand-coloured title and 46 double-page or folding maps by the Visschers, Schenk, Valk, de Wit and others. (10 maps with tears at the folds, 7 slightly shaved, 2 with tears to the margins just running into the plate area, the last five maps with old dampstaining.) Old half morocco covered in paper in the 19th-century, (scuffed and bumped).
A good late selection of maps, published during the final period of the Visschers' life as map and print sellers. Elizabeth Visscher took over her husband's business after his death in 1702 and ceased trading in about 1726. In about 1719 Petrus Schenk II bought many of Visscher's plates. This copy, with 16 maps by Visscher, 13 by Schenk (one dated 1717) and 11 by Valk, indicates a period of co-operation between Schenk and Elizabeth Visscher before the purchase of the plates. Koeman does not record this issue (1716 is the latest), cf. Koeman III, pp.170-175.
