Modelled as a youth operating a magic lantern for a girl and a small boy with a basket of fruit, on a shaped rockwork base applied with a flower and foliage at the back (slight chip to foliage, base, edge of girl's jacket and boy's hat), incised F mark

Lot Essay

First modelled by Falconet in 1756 and loosely derived from Nicolas Cochin's Foire de Campagne after Boucher. Cf.
