Bishop Heber died in 1826 unexpectedly in his bath at Trichonopoly, on his pastoral tour of India (1824-1826). Bishop Reginald Heber (1783-1826) was the much loved Bishop of Calcutta from 1822-1826 (see his wife's posthumous edition of his Narrative of a Journey through India, London, 1828).
